The Conversion of non-Muslim places of worship into mosques occurred primarily during the life of Muhammad and continued during subsequent Islamic conquests and under historical Muslim rule. As a result, numerous Hindu temples, churches, synagogues, the Parthenon and Zoroastrian temples were converted into mosques. Several such mosques in Muslim or ex-Muslim lands have since reverted or become museums, such as the Hagia Sophia in Turkey and numerous mosques in Spain and Israel.

हमारी सभ्यता प्राचीनतम है ! हमने ही विश्व को कला, संस्कृति, स्थापत्य कला और विज्ञान दिया है यही कारण है की हमारे और हमारे जैसी दूसरी प्राचीन सभ्यता जैसे ग्रीक और रोमन द्वारा निर्मित स्थापत्य कला की बेहतरीन इमारतों को तोड़कर इस्लाम और ईसाई धर्मों द्वारा उनके ऊपर दूसरी इमारतों का निर्माण किया गया ! इस तरह के निर्माण से एक ओर जहाँ पराजित कौम का मनोबल तोड़ा जाता था वहीं दूसरी ओर विजेता और विध्वंसकारी अपनी विजय की यादगार बनाकर अपने सैनिकों का धार्मिक उन्माद बढ़ाते थे !

निश्चय ही यह शोध का विषय हो सकता लेकिन CARBON 14 Dating से सच्चाई सामने अवश्य आ जायेगी ! कुतर्क करने वालों को केवल यह उदाहरण प्रस्तुत कीजिये - "" तालिबान ने बामियान में क्या किया ??? विश्व की प्राचीनतम और विशालतम बौद्ध मूर्ति को ध्वस्त करने वाले क्या इस्लाम का झंडा नहीं बुलंद किये हुए हैं ???? उससे भी ज्यादा चिंता की बात चीन / जापान / कोरिया / श्रीलंका जैसे शक्तिशाली बौद्ध धर्म के अनुयायी वाले देशों के होते हुए भी बामियान की बौद्ध मूर्ति को बचने के लिए कोई भी आगे नहीं आया !!!!
